2010 IPC Powerlifting World Championships: Anti-Doping Information
All athletes participating at the 2010 IPC Powerlifting World Championships are subject to doping control in accordance with the IPC Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Code (WADC) International Standard for Testing and WADC International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs).
The IPC has the anti-doping jurisdiction over participating athletes and acts as a Results Management Authority of the event.
TUE Management
Prior to the event: Athletes may apply for an approval to use prohibited substances and/or prohibited methods on the WADC Prohibited List to treat their medical conditions.
In line with the WADC International Standard for TUEs, athlete should submit the TUE Application no less than 30 days before he/she needs an approval.
TUE Applications must be submitted to the relevant authority, as follows:
• Athletes currently included in the IPC Registered Testing Pool (IPC RTP) for Powerlifting, must submit their TUE Application to the IPC.
• Other athletes must obtain a TUE approval from their National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO). The decisions issued by NADOs will be automatically recognized by the IPC.
During the event: All athletes, who need to apply for a TUE during the event, must submit their TUE Application to the IPC directly, irrespective of being on the IPC RTP or not.
During the event, the IPC will only consider TUE Applications in the following cases:
• Emergency treatment of an acute medical condition;
• Insufficient time for an applicant to submit or a TUEC to consider an application prior to doping control
The Application must be submitted in English and must be supported by the relevant medical information, attached to the TUE (either in English or accompanied by the English translation).
